Welcome Back to Tennis!
The Welcome Back to Tennis program is the latest for players ages 50 and over. It runs from August 11th to November 22nd and is open to ANY skill level, including those that have never touched a tennis racquet before! Clinics are $5 each. No pre-registration needed. | Picture if you will, a tennis court filled with laughter and shouts of encouragement. The sounds that you hear are the exuberant voices of senior citizens playing tennis. In addition to the programs for kids, Tennis Memphis offers the opportunity for many senior citizens to get back into the game or pick up the game through our highly successful “Tennis for a Lifetime” program. Over 150 seniors have participated in the program that provides a racket and tennis instruction at no cost to the players. Just talk with any one of these players and they will tell you that their daily lives are changing for the better.

According to Ann Sharpe, “The program is great fun! I had not done anything athletic until now.” Ann is now more active than ever, as is Annie Earthman, who is also recruiting her friends to join. “I tell all of my friends about the program and invite them to come,” she says. These feelings are echoed by Ernestine Reser, who says, “I love it! I am enjoying it immensely.” Tennis instructor Michael Ballard has seen many lives changed for the better. The difference tennis is making in their life is nothing short of remarkable. Instead of sitting on the sideline they are in the game (of life).

| The Tennis for a Lifetime program is offered free to senior citizens at the City of Memphis Senior Centers and public tennis courts. Racquets, indoor court time, tennis balls, equipment, and instruction are all provided by Tennis Memphis through corporate and individual donations and grants.
